The distillery’s story dates back over 15 years ago when founders Daniel Pacheco and Antonio Lopez de Haro embarked on a mission to create a premium rum brand with Cambodia’s abundant sugar cane as their canvas.

“The vision of Daniel and Antonio materialized into the first premium rum distillery in the country! Benefiting from the sugar cane plantations and rich local resources, they laid the foundation for our distinctive brand.”

Sam said that Samai Rum Distillery isn’t just about producing exceptional rum; it’s about weaving a narrative that celebrates Cambodia’s rich history and resources. 

“Navigating the nascent spirits market in Cambodia presents an exciting opportunity for continuous growth and education. My role as the Brand Ambassador encompasses more than just promoting the product; it’s about immersing visitors in the Samai experience.”

“Simultaneously, as the Brand House Manager, I oversee the hospitality program at the original space where the Samai Rums were conceived a decade ago. This multifaceted role involves managing a bar and event space that opens twice a week, organizing distillery tours, and curating unforgettable experiences for visitors,” he added.

“As Samai expands both within Cambodia and beyond, I find myself increasingly involved in traversing new territories, facilitating knowledge exchange, and nurturing our brand’s global presence,” he added.

From educating guests about the rum-making process to overseeing the hospitality program at the brand house, Sam is dedicated to ensuring that every interaction with Samai is memorable and enriching.
