Phnom Penh Eclectic: A Photography Showcase for Empowerment

Phnom Penh Eclectic

This weekend, Phnom Penh takes center stage through the lenses of more than 20 photographers and students of the Cambodian Children’s Fund (CCF). On Saturday, August 30, at 6 PM, the Phnom Penh Photography Collective (PPPC), in collaboration with CCF and Kinin Collective, will launch Photography for Empowerment with a multi-venue exhibition entitled Phnom Penh Eclectic.

Three Venues, Three Themes

The exhibition will unfold across three of the capital’s most vibrant spaces: Maloop Garden, Kinin, and Nesat Seafood House. Each location will present a unique theme, reflecting the eclectic life and culture of the city. From candid street portraits to atmospheric urban landscapes, the showcase celebrates Phnom Penh’s rhythm, resilience, and remarkable character.

Over the past three months, PPPC has hosted workshops and guided photowalks that brought together professional and amateur photographers alongside CCF youth. The open call for submissions resulted in more than 500 entries, carefully curated down to 106 striking images now featured in the exhibition.

The Faces Behind the Frames

Natalia Bianco—a UK-born photographer based in Cambodia—specializes in street and abstract imagery. Her Instagram (@natalia.bianco.art) showcases Phnom Penh in a moody, cinematic light—think “Blade Runner style” urban scenes that blur lines between reality and dream.

Chry Nakim offers a contrasting yet equally powerful vision. A winner of Cambodia Street Photography’s “Candid Portrait” award for 2024, his work captures intimate moments that pulse with life—every portrait bursts with authenticity and connection..

These are just two voices in a sensational cohort!

Beyond the Exhibition

The event is designed to be more than a viewing. Visitors can expect immersive elements such as QR codes linking to extended online galleries and student-led tours providing insight into the images and the stories behind them. Most importantly, prints will be available for purchase, with 100% of proceeds going directly to support CCF’s Photography & Media Club. Funds will help provide cameras, editing software, printing materials, and mentorship to inspire the next generation of storytellers.
