Get To Know Channthy Fever! Celebrating a Voice That Shaped a Generation
The life and legacy of Srey Channthy — the magnetic voice behind the Cambodian Space Project — is being honoured in a photography exhibition titled Channthy Fever, opening May 28 at Little Red Fox Espresso in Siem Reap’s Kandal Village.
This heartfelt tribute brings together 25 never-before-seen photographs taken between 2014 and 2018, capturing moments of raw energy, grace, and soul from one of Cambodia’s most iconic performers. More than just an exhibition, Channthy Fever is a reminder of the unifying power of music, memory, and community.
“Channthy Fever celebrates the life and legacy of Srey Channthy… the captivating voice of the Cambodian Space Project,” say the exhibition organizers. “We all try and live our lives with journeys of hope, and this exhibition highlights that with love and appreciation of our cultures and differences, we can celebrate them through music and lyrics.”
At the heart of the exhibition is Channthy’s own voice — not just through song, but in her words. Speaking in a past interview, she shared:
“I don’t know if music or art can really help in the short term, but for me, music has always been a solace, bringing hope and love and helping to overcome hard times. When I’m singing, I feel like I’m flying. These old songs can awaken the love we had back then and wash away our sorrow.”
It’s a message that resonates deeply, especially today. In a world moving quickly, Channthy Fever invites visitors to slow down and reflect — on the past, present, and what still lies ahead.
“In our fast lives, it’s increasingly important to slow down and reflect on our hopes and dreams,” say the organizers. “Channthy, and many other Cambodian artists, help us do that.”
The exhibition also aims to spark something more enduring — a sense of connection between cultures, generations, and creative communities.
“Events like this can really help bring our cultures and communities together. Sharing our music, stories, food, and insights helps us appreciate humankind in a meaningful and sustainable way — outside of politics and division.”

Before the exhibition launch, the team partnered with POMME’s Quiz Night to raise early awareness and distribute flyers, ensuring the local community could connect to the spirit of the event well in advance.
“Marketing events across Cambodia is never easy,” they explained. “By working closely with community partners like POMME, we were able to share the Channthy Fever event with our local community… the quiz night reminded guests of Channthy’s music and lyrics and put the context of the exhibition into their hearts and minds.”
The official launch night at Little Red Fox (Wed. 28th May ‘25) promises to be something special. Alongside the photo exhibition, there’ll be a live performance of Channthy’s songs, led by artists Sokunthea Duk, Euan Gray, Toma Willen, and Scot Aird — with visuals by SKNY Visuals adding a rich layer of atmosphere. All proceeds from photo sales will go to Channthy’s son, Makara, who will also be present on the night.
“The Siem Reap community has a lot of fond memories with Channthy. She recorded at 60 Road Studios, played in local venues, and supported the Little Red Fox Espresso at the Kandal Village Festival.”
So how can you support the Community ?
“Just turn up and enjoy the dancing — as Channthy would say.”
