Discover Rahu: Asian Fusion at its Finest?

When looking at the best Asian fusion cuisine in Cambodia, Rahu ranks highly on most people’s list. As a prerequisite to running a Cambodia Lifestyle platform, we had to find out more! Thankfully, we were lucky enough to catch up with Operations Manager Leak Keo, who graciously shared insights into what makes Rahu a must-visit destination for food and drinks in Phnom Penh.

Rahu, a part of the Metro Group of Restaurants, offers a contemporary atmosphere and a diverse menu.

“From small plates to steaks and sushi – a bit of a Japanese style steakhouse – we present a modern take on dining with an emphasis on the highest quality ingredients and service.”

Celebrating its second anniversary, Rahu showcases nearly two decades of culinary expertise from the Metro Group.

“While we just celebrated our second anniversary, our group has been operating restaurants in Phnom Penh for almost 20 years. As our group’s newest restaurant, I think that the highlight has been putting everything we have learned over the years into this location, being able to make the best food and give the greatest experience for our customers.”

“We’ve been able to travel extensively, from Bangkok to Aspen, and have taken all of the best concepts we’ve seen abroad and brought them here,” she added.

“We believe that we offer some of the best food in the city, with a bit of variety for everyone. Although we’re well known for our steaks, oysters, and sharing dishes, we have a very unique Japanese menu as well. We also have an array of weekly food and drink specials. For instance, our $3 Lamb Chop Mondays are becoming very popular, and our Sushi and Sake Fridays have been a staple for a while, as well as an unbeatable $4.50 lunch special.”

Leak is also excited about the upcoming opening of a new adjacent restaurant in September, promising more excitement and innovation.

“We will be opening a new restaurant in September, which will be adjacent to us. We have a very cool design and concept, but you’ll have to ask me again in a few months to let that secret out,” she teased!

A commitment to cuisine, community and culture

The Metro Group stands out for its supportive and inclusive work culture, highlighted by its education fund for staff development.

“I’m extremely proud to work for a group that supports all of our employees, in whichever path they want to pursue. As an example, we have an education fund which is accessible to all of our employees to continue their education, from English classes to employees pursuing degrees in marketing to international relations.”

“This has fostered a great working environment as everyone really feels like family here and we support each other, and have a lot of fun in the process. The owners, Sokha and Sona, have also been extremely supportive to me personally, throughout my 4 years here,” she added.

Leak finally highlighted how much she enjoys welcoming guests from diverse backgrounds, creating a cultural melting pot at Rahu.

“I love that our restaurant is a place that brings in Cambodians and people from all over the world, and that everyone seems to enjoy the mixed cultural environment. I’ve met so many great people here, and look forward to meeting more!”
