Cambodia Knits & Seekers Spirits: Lip-Sync Battle Returns
Phnom Penh’s social calendar is never short on creative ways to give back, and this September sees the return of one of the city’s quirkiest fundraisers. Cambodia Knits, in collaboration with Seekers Spirits, is hosting the second edition of their Lip-Sync Battle — a night where being tone-deaf is not just forgiven but celebrated.
A Stage for the Vocally Challenged
The concept is simple: sign up solo or with friends, pick a favorite song, and throw yourself into the performance. Whether it’s a diva-inspired ballad, a rock anthem with plenty of air guitar, or a pop hit complete with dance moves, the aim is to entertain rather than impress with vocal ability. Costumes, props, and choreography are encouraged, but the only real rule is to have fun. With a modest $7 registration fee going directly to the Cambodia Knits Scholarship Fund, participants will be performing for more than just applause — they’ll be supporting children’s education.
Cambodia Knits: Crafting Futures
Founded in 2009, Cambodia Knits has built a reputation as one of the country’s most socially conscious enterprises. The organization empowers women in marginalized communities by training them in hand-knitting and crochet, providing income opportunities that can be done from home.

Beyond employment, Cambodia Knits also prioritizes the wellbeing of producers’ families, which is where the scholarship fund comes in. The initiative covers informal school costs such as supplies, uniforms, and transport, helping to ensure children can stay in school and thrive.
Seekers Spirits: Local Flavor, Global Quality
The event is hosted at Seekers Spirits, Cambodia’s first craft distillery and the creator of the award-winning Mekong Dry Gin. Based in Phnom Penh, Seekers has become a lifestyle hub as much as a distillery, known for its sleek tasting room, mixology events, and commitment to showcasing regional botanicals.

Why It Matters
Fundraising events like this show another side of Phnom Penh’s lifestyle scene. They combine fun, community spirit, and social impact in a way that resonates with expats and locals alike. For participants, it’s a chance to let loose, discover a hidden performance streak, and meet new people in one of the city’s most stylish venues. For the audience, it promises laughter, great cocktails, and the satisfaction of knowing every cheer helps keep a child in school.
Registration is now open, and spots are expected to fill quickly. Whether you’re planning to channel Freddie Mercury, Beyoncé, or even a boy-band throwback, this is your chance to take the stage for a good cause.
