Bliss & Beats Hostel: The New Kid On The Block!

Bliss & Beats Hostel

I mean, the clues in the title right? Bliss & Beats isn’t just a place to rest your head, it’s a complete hostel rethink. Both a welcome chill pitstop for travellers or a local hangout for expats and locals, theres something for everyone both on and off the menu.

Launched only recently January 2025 (funnily enough, close to the founder of Cambodia Lifestyle’s birthday, coincidence?), this bold new concept is the brainchild of General Manager Kristiaan Wouters, a seasoned hostel veteran (he’ll love that) who saw an opportunity to transform a city center hotel into something entirely fresh.

“I wanted to create a place that perfectly balances relaxation and social interaction,” Kristiaan explains. “After years in the hostel world, I was ready for an exciting new challenge, and when the chance came to reimagine an existing space, I knew it was time to build something different.”

The result is a hostel that hits that elusive sweet spot between laid-back chill and lively social energy. Bliss & Beats has quickly made a name for itself, picking up the Trip.com ‘Rising Star’ award just two months after opening. It’s a place where guests often check in for a night or two, only to find themselves extending their stay, drawn in by the relaxed but engaging atmosphere. “So many guests arrive unsure what to expect and leave telling us we’ve nailed that perfect mix of chill, social, and party vibes,” Kristiaan adds.

What sets Bliss & Beats apart is the way it blends carefully curated spaces for both unwinding and socializing. The ground floor, with its urban oasis vibe, offers cozy corners for quiet moments, a pool area for laid-back afternoons, and communal spaces that invite conversation and connection. Whether it’s a game of pool, a drink at the bar, or a late-night chat with a fellow traveler, the hostel has been designed to make every interaction meaningful.

Going a step further than your average

But it’s not just the physical space that makes Bliss & Beats special, it’s the people. “It’s like getting to travel the world without leaving our bar stool,” Kristiaan says, reflecting on the constant influx of diverse perspectives and stories from around the globe. This sense of community is at the heart of the hostel’s culture, where connections happen naturally, and everyone adds their own energy to the mix.

Bliss & Beats also takes its role as a local business seriously, supporting the Cambodian economy by hiring local staff and sourcing supplies from nearby businesses. “For us, it’s not just about providing a bed – it’s about contributing to the local community and creating a space where cultural exchange is part of the experience,” Kristiaan explains. This approach extends to the hostel’s events, which range from live music nights and beer fests to Cambodian cooking workshops and cultural exchange sessions that connect guests with the rich, diverse culture of the country.

That personal touch

Kristiaan’s love for Cambodia is clear. “What makes this place so special for me is the warmth of the Cambodian people. There’s a unique energy and deep sense of history here that is truly captivating,” he says. “It feels incredibly rewarding to contribute to this beautiful country through our hostel.”
